Happy Birthday to my blog!!!
(Well technically it’ll be a year on the 19th, but ignore the technicalities).
I started this blog a year ago, with a website I’d just finished customizing and no published articles out in the world yet. Sure, I’d been encouraged to start a blog by the writing program I also joined last year, but I was also excited to be able to share my writing with others and get experience in building a brand.
Now I have an article published on The Rebelution, 70 blog subscribers (and counting), a consistent following on my website, and I’ve written guest posts for other writers I know. Since last April, I’ve kept up with my commitment of posting once a week, written 33,143 words, and received hundreds of likes and comments on my posts — not to mention the support I’ve received in person and on other platforms besides this website.
Thank you to everyone who’s stuck with me as I write and grow this blog, whether we met online or in person, whether you’re a teenager or an adult, or whether you’re a writer or not. Every one of your likes and comments mean the world to me, as do your encouraging words and motivation.
I don’t plan on this blog shutting down anytime soon, if ever. I may be making some changes soon as my goals shift: I hope to start my own freelance editing business in a few months to a year, so my website will transition into more of an author website rather than just a blog (meaning the layout and the website name will probably change). As I branch out into different things, I also may start to post every 2 weeks than every single week — but I don’t plan on stopping my blog posts <3
Hopefully I can also set up an email list around the time I launch my business, so I can send out regular newsletters about the progress of my fiction projects, my business launch, and interact with readers more. I’ll also probably be making an Instagram account for my editing business and/or an aspiring author account. But I’ll make sure to announce when those things happen and when I start to make changes 🙂
If you know anyone who likes to write, or who you think would enjoy my content, always feel free to send them the link to my website or just let them know about it. Numbers aren’t everything, but they are important, and a bigger audience means my writing reaches more people.
Again, thank you all so much for sticking with me this year — it means a lot to me, and it always makes me happy to hear that my posts are helpful to y’all or making you think. Influencing and changing people’s lives for the better is the goal of all my writing, regardless of the topic or genre < 3
