Are you a fiction writer looking to make your characters deeper, your prose clearer, and your story world more consistent and immersive?

Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Whether you’re looking to self publish, pursuing traditional publishing, or you’re just a writer looking for feedback and ways to grow in your craft, my goal as an editor is to leave every writer’s story stronger than when I first received it (and to leave you motivated and encouraged in your writing journey).

As a writer myself, I know firsthand the difficulties of the writing life and how easy it is to feel stuck or discouraged when you don’t know what the next step is or how to fix a problem in your story. If you hire me to edit your project, all of my edits will be focused on strengthening your story and prose while keeping your vision and heart for the story intact.

So let’s go onto the specifics:

Turnaround Time

– My average turnaround time is 3-5 weeks, dependent on the length of the project and what type of edit you’ve hired me for. Once your slot is secured and I receive your manuscript, I’ll contact you with an project-specific estimate as to how long it will take for me to get your manuscript back to you*.

*If you receive my estimate and need your manuscript faster than the timeframe I’ve given you, contact me. Dependent on my schedule, I may be able to get it done faster for a $60 rush fee.

Manuscript and Genre Specifics

– Your manuscript must be formatted to industry standards before you send it to me: a double-spaced Word document in 12 pt Times New Roman font, with 1 inch margins.

– I adhere to the standards of the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition.

– My favorite fiction genres are contemporary, YA, romance, historical fiction, and dystopian, but I’m open to editing almost all genres except horror, erotica, and sci-fi. Please fill out this form to let me know what content is in your manuscript, as I will not edit or accept manuscripts with content like explicit romance or sexual tension, gory or very detailed violence, on-screen suicide attempts, heavy LGBTQ+ themes, or a blatantly anti-Christian theme/message.

Note: For historical fiction writers, I will not be fact-checking every detail of your manuscript or doing your research for you. You remain fully responsible for the historical accuracy of your work.

– I do reserve the right to decline editing your manuscript at my own discretion.

Payment options and add-ons

– I do offer payment installments (either two or three depending on your needs), but you will receive a 10% discount if you pay in full up front. If you choose to pay in installments, I will not begin editing until you pay the first installment, and your manuscript will not be returned to you until you finish the remaining payments.

– I charge between $75-150 for style sheets dependent on project length and complexity, so if you plan to hire me for an in-depth line edit and you’d like me to make you a style sheet, please let me know so that I can give you a project-specific estimate for that.

– I do require that you provide a style sheet if you hire me for a copyedit.

– I offer a 1-hour follow-up Zoom call for $75 if you’d like us to talk through my edits or brainstorm.

– Returning clients will receive a 10% discount.

– Current members of the Young Writer’s Workshop will also receive a 10% discount.

– Although I take pride in being your book’s greatest fan, I cannot review or endorse books written by a client I’ve edited for. If you haven’t hired me as your editor and you would like me to endorse your book, please contact me at shilohnoellecontact@proton.me.

Services

Content Edit

$0.03 per word

I will not be booking content edits until late summer/fall of 2026.

Copyedit

$0.02 per word

Just like my in-depth line edit, I’ll go through your manuscript line by line, but I’ll only be watching out for any grammar, punctuation, or spelling mistakes, as well as any story inconsistencies. I do require a style sheet before beginning this edit.

Note: I’d recommend this edit only you’re confident in the content of your story and it’s prose. If not, you should begin with either an editorial review or an in-depth line edit.

In-Depth Line Edit

$0.03 per word

I’ll go through your manuscript line by line, looking to tighten your prose and correct any grammar or spelling mistakes. This covers things like sentence structure, passive voice, pet words, head-hopping, description, and dialogue.

Editorial Review

$500-700 flat rate (dependent on word count)

After reading through your entire manuscript, I’ll write you a comprehensive, multi-page letter going over its major strengths and weaknesses. This addresses your pacing, character arcs, plot holes, the strength of your prose, descriptions and dialogue, whether or not your ending was satisfying, and more.

Note: I would recommend this option for writers who are looking to grow their craft and receive a bird’s eye view of their manuscript. If you’re looking for a more in-depth edit of either your content or your prose, I would suggest hiring me for a content edit or a line edit.

Client Testimonials

Working with Shiloh was a great experience—her excitement for the project was contagious and made me feel genuinely supported as a writer. You can tell she truly loves editing, and it shows in both the care she puts into her feedback and her sharp eye for grammar, flow, and clarity.

— Abby Henderson

Shiloh has been one of my favorite critique readers, because she has the ability to not just read something with the purpose of giving feedback, but she is able to truly FEEL what she reads. It was really helpful for her to be able to tell me what she felt about my poems, not just the things she noticed could be improved. 10/10 for Shiloh! Highly recommend.

— Decker Martin

What I love most about Shiloh’s services is that she cares just as much about my story and my characters as I do. She never fails to leave encouraging comments that help boost my motivation when the editing process feels so daunting.

— Kamryn Rackley

When I first started putting my work out there for editing, I was nervous about whether or not it was actually good. Shiloh became one of my first editors, and from her help, my skill and confidence BOOSTED. Not only did she help me clean up my manuscript, she showed me through wonderful, kindly worded comments what was good about my novel and what needed a change. It is partly thanks to her that I am now able to call myself a real author.

-L.E. Levens, author of The Jewel of Berlin

Shiloh is an incredible editor- she takes her time to understand and love your story to help you turn it into exactly what it’s meant to be. Shiloh is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever work with, and will be your book’s guaranteed #1 fan!

-Isabel Marie, author of Fifth Fjord

Receiving suggestions and feedback on writing can be really scary at times, but Shiloh does an incredible job of giving honest, valuable critiques! She’s not only an absolute joy to work with, but she’s also so genuine, friendly, and most importantly, kind! Every time that she edits my work, I know that it’s been in good hands, and I appreciate how she helps to come alongside me as I strive to improve my writing. I totally recommend Shiloh for any editing service, and I can say with confidence that her insight has helped me grow as a writer!
